The FE x Winkler Operator AF knife with canvas micarta handle.

The WK Operator knife is derivative of a collaboration between Daniel Winkler and Kevin Holland, US Navy SEAL (ret.) and US Army Special Operations (ret.).

Kevin’s expertise as a military operator, as well as a skilled trapper/outdoorsman, resulted in a knife that is not only effective in tactical environments, but provides utility when required.

A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE

No frills. No nonsense. Only the highest quality craftsmanship and decades of knife-making experience as a Master Bladesmith. That’s what you get with every knife that comes from Winkler.

Based in Boone, North Carolina, Daniel Winkler and his wife/business partner and Sheath Maker, Karen Shook, have reached legendary status in the SOF community for their tactical and rescue operation tools. And their well-deserved rise to fame is thanks to a somewhat unlikely entity: Hollywood.

When Magua walked onto the big screen in James Fenimore Cooper’s 1992 adaptation of The Last of the Mohicans, his tomahawk caught the attention of a Navy SEAL who had been tasked with sourcing a military-grade breaching axe. The maker of said tomahawk? Daniel Winkler. (He also made the knives carried by Daniel Day-Lewis’ and Eric Schweig’s characters). By 2004, Winkler’s working relationship with SOF formally began and he’s been providing our elite fighting forces with high-performance edged tools since.

If it’s good enough for combat, it’s good enough for us. The Operator AF knife is the tool for those of us who understand that bad things happen in this world every day, and often times no one is coming to help…so we choose our gear accordingly.
